Zhitolyub spring, village of Gara Lakatnik

The Zhitolyub Karst spring is located at the foot of the Lakatnishkite Rocks, under the Temnata Dupka cave, 8 m from the level of the Iskar River. The spring is one of the largest karst springs in the country and is the “child” of two underground rivers. Sinkholes take part of the waters of the Petrenska and the Potebitsa rivers, which pass through the watercourses of Temnata Dupka cave, and pour into the spring at the foot of the rocks through a narrow siphon. In torrential rains, up to 1200 liters per second pass through it. A small restaurant and artificial lake are located around the spring.
